Panel discussion between Jim Robertson, managing editor of the Columbia Daily Tribune and president of the Missouri Sunshine Coalition, Charles Davis, associate professor of journalism from MU and former executive director of the National Freedom of Information Center and Sandy Davidson, associate professor of journalism studies and an attorney who teaches media law.

The presentation aired live on Columbia Access TV on Wednesday, April11th at 7:00 p.m. (Charter Channel 85; Mediacom Channel 21 and CenturyLink Cable Channel 603). Learn more about Missouri women's hard-fought struggle to get the vote as Margot Ford McMillen presents her recently published book, The Golden Lane: How Missouri Women Gained the Vote and Changed History.  Margot Ford McMillen is the author of six books, teaches at Westminster University in Fulton, farms in rural Callaway County, promotes local food systems and hosts "Farm and Fiddle" weekly on KOPN Radio.  This program is cosponsored with the Columbia Public Library and the Columbia chapter of AAUW.  Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signing by the author.

 

Tuesday April 24 - LWV Annual Meeting

The annual meeting is a time for all members of the League to voice their opinions on what our local League is about, to elect new board members and to review or local program/policies and bylaws.    We will also be honoring the memory of the late Carolyn Leuthold, our Goodge Award winner for service to our League. 

The cost of the dinner is $23 (included tax and gratuity).  Please make your reservations by April 15 with Liz Schmidt, 1700 Forum Blvd. #3101, Columbia, MO 65203 and include your check.  Checks for the dinner should be made out to the League of Women Voters of Columbia - Boone County.  See the April Voter for the menu, including vegetarian option, the nomination committee report and recommended bylaw changes.  Those wishing to make a memorial donation to the League in honor of Carolyn should make out a check to LWVMO Education Fund, attach a cover note indicating "honoring Carolyn Leuthold" and either hand it to Liz Schmidt at the meeting, or send it to her at the address above.
